While other contestants sang, danced or played instruments for the talent competition on the second night of preliminaries in Atlantic City, Kelley Johnson, Miss Colorado, delivered a unique monologue about experience as a nurse.
The monologue, is an unsual choice for a talent routine at the Miss America pageant. And when a contestant does choose this, typically, the theme is most likely comedy, or theater.
Instead, Kelley Johnson went for the heart.
Johnson, Miss Colorado 2015, is a nurse. For her monologue, delivered Wednesday night at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, Johnson, 22, wore scrubs and a stethoscope. She fixated on her profession, telling the story of how a patient made her see her worth.
And stole the show!
